First Twins spring training lineup announced

February 27, 2011

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire announced his Spring Training opening lineup today.  Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Michael Cuddyer and Delmon Young will not play in the game.  This obviously is not the lineup the Twins will start the season with.  Mauer is taking it slow this Spring Training after offseason knee surgery.  Morneau has still not been cleared for game activity.  Cuddyer has a wart on his foot that could keep him out a couple of more days and Delmon is battling a case of turf toe.

The Twins will face Boston right handers Josh Beckett and Clay Buchholz.  First pitch is at 6:05 CT, the game will not be televised but will be broadcast on the Twins Radio Network.  John Gordon will begin his 25th and final season behind the mic calling Twins Baseball.

Lineup:

CF Denard Span
2B Tsuyoshi Nishioka
RF Jason Kubel
DH Jim Thome
3B Danny Valencia
1B Chris Parmelee
LF Jason Repko
SS Alexi Casilla
C Drew Butera
RHP Carl Pavano
